Discover the art of Handloom Weaving in this workshop for beginners on Saturday 29th August at Ulster Folk Museum.

Our expert weaver, Joanne Glassett, will guide you on using a 4 shaft table loom throughout this one day taster session.

You'll be introduced to the principles of hand weaving, and have the time to experiment with patterns, colours and textures in a relaxing and encouraging environment.  Take your unique woven pieces home with you, along with some suggestions for final uses.

Joanne’s hand-weaving journey began in 2018 when, under the guidance of mentor Dianne Shaw, she learned to weave on the Ulster Folk Museum’s late 19th century loom.

Since then she has completed further studies in hand weaving, and developed skills in a range of techniques and materials. An experienced workshop facilitator, Joanne is passionate about sharing traditional textile skills with others and preserving these wonderful heritage crafts.
